A tipper truck driver is in critical condition after being shot in the eye by armed robbers during a brazen attack at Gomoa Potsin, along the Kasoa-Winneba Highway in the Central Region.
The victim, an employee of Nag Fairmount Construction, was on duty when the incident occurred.
Confirming the report, Gomoa Dominase District Police Commander, ASP Richard Ahiagbor, stated that the attack happened during a robbery operation and is part of a disturbing rise in similar incidents.
Speaking at a stakeholder meeting on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, ASP Ahiagbor revealed that police have recorded over four robbery cases in the area within just one week.
Residents told Adom News that the robbers are exploiting ongoing road construction works on the highway to carry out their crimes with ease.
They are calling on the Central Regional Minister, Member of Parliament for Gomoa East Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, and relevant authorities to urgently beef up security.
ASP Ahiagbor assured the public that the Police Administration has already established multiple checkpoints along the highway in an effort to clamp down on the rising wave of crime.
