The Tema Circuit Court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties to Veronica Vorsah, the headmistress of St. Olives School of Grammar in Dodowa.

Ms Vorsah has been charged with causing harm under Section 69 and assault under Section 84 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

The charges stem from a report by Accra-based Channel One News, which alleged the abuse of an eight-year-old pupil, Jalila Abdul Jalil, leading to police investigations and subsequent court proceedings.

Following the bail decision, Ms Vorsah met all the stipulated conditions and has been directed to report to the Dodowa Police Command every Wednesday as part of her bail requirements.

Prosecutors indicated that they would seek further direction from the Office of the Attorney-General as investigations continue.

The court has adjourned the case to March 9, 2026, for the next hearing.
