A man believed to be in his late thirties is in critical condition at the Kasoa Polyclinic after he was allegedly assaulted by a mob for attempting to steal refrigerator parts at Walantu Junction in Kasoa, within the Awutu Senya East Municipality.
Reports indicate that the suspect was caught removing the motor from a refrigerator that had been taken to a repair shop. After he was apprehended in the act, some residents allegedly attacked him.
Speaking to Adom News, the shop owner, Sylvester Awugya, said his workshop had experienced several recent thefts, which heightened tensions and led to the violent response when the suspect was caught.
Police officers from the Kasoa Divisional Police Command later arrived at the scene, rescued the suspect from the mob, and rushed him to the Kasoa Polyclinic, where he is currently receiving medical care.
