PURC Announces 1.14% Increase in Electricity Tariffs for Q4 2025

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced a 1.14% increase in electricity tariffs for the fourth quarter of 2025, effective from October 1, 2025.

In a statement released on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, the Commission confirmed that water tariffs will remain unchanged during this review period.

According to the PURC, the adjustment was made under its Quarterly Tariff Review Mechanism, which ensures utility tariffs reflect fluctuations in critical economic indicators beyond the control of utility providers.

“These quarterly reviews help preserve the real value of tariffs and ensure the financial sustainability of utility companies so they can continue delivering reliable services to consumers,” the statement noted.

The Commission highlighted several factors considered in the review, including:

The PURC stated that the modest increase in electricity tariffs was necessary to address the impact of the Cedi’s depreciation and inflation, while ensuring the continued financial viability of the utility sector.

As a result, electricity consumers will experience a slight rise in their bills from October 1, 2025, while water charges will remain the same.
