The Parliament of Ghana has expressed profound sorrow over the death of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her passing as a significant loss to the nation.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 23, and signed by Director of Media Relations David Sebastian Damoah, Parliament extended its heartfelt condolences to the family of the late former First Lady and to all Ghanaians.
The statement noted that the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, along with parliamentary leadership and members, received the news of her sudden demise with deep sadness.
“Parliament extends its deepest condolences to the immediate family and the nation. Her life of service and dedication to Ghana will remain a guiding example for generations to come,” the statement said.
It also highlighted Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings’ significant contributions to national development, including her advocacy for women and children, promotion of girl-child education, and efforts in health and community development.
“She was a passionate supporter of women and children, particularly in advancing girl education. Her contributions to health, community development, and the welfare of the vulnerable will be remembered with profound respect and gratitude,” the statement added.
As a mark of respect and recognition of her legacy, Parliament adjourned its sitting on Thursday, October 23, 2025, reflecting the House’s collective mourning and appreciation for her service, courage, and leadership.
