The National Service Scheme (NSS) will shut down its registration portal on Friday, with half of this year’s deployed personnel still unreported, according to Deputy Director-General for Operations, Fuseini Donkor.
In an interview on the AM Show, Donkor voiced his frustration over the slow reporting rate, stating that only 50% of personnel have completed their registration despite multiple reminders. He stressed that the deadline will not be extended.
“By Friday, we are closing the system,” he emphasised. “Today is Wednesday, and 50% of them have not reported. Our system can handle even a million people, but they must show up and register.”
Donkor criticised what he described as intentional delays by some personnel attempting to circumvent official procedures. He added that many regional offices remain idle because some deployed individuals believe they can later return with money to alter their postings.
“The pressure on the system is becoming overwhelming,” he said. “Most regional offices are idle because some people think, ‘I will bring money and get it changed.’ Please, by Friday, we are locking the system.”
The NSS is expected to release additional updates as the deadline draws near.
