Nitiwul Challenges Frimpong-Boateng Over NPP Primary Rigging Claim

Former Defence Minister and Bimbilla MP, Dominic Nitiwul, has taken aim at Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng over his allegation that the New Patriotic Party’s 2023 presidential primary was manipulated in favour of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express on Tuesday, Mr Nitiwul questioned the foundation of the claim and instead drew attention to Prof Frimpong-Boateng’s own political path.

He asked what evidence informed the allegation, expressing scepticism about its credibility.

While acknowledging Prof Frimpong-Boateng’s distinguished medical career, Mr Nitiwul suggested that the former Environment Minister has found it difficult to navigate the political landscape.

“I respect him as a surgeon and as one of the finest doctors this country has produced, but politically, I think he needs to reflect on whether entering politics was the right decision,” he said.

Mr Nitiwul implied that the comments may be driven more by personal introspection than by concrete political facts, adding that Prof Frimpong-Boateng would understand the context of his remarks.

He further noted that he may be among a small group of people able to speak frankly to the former minister about the issue.

Concluding his remarks, Mr Nitiwul reiterated his belief that Prof Frimpong-Boateng should reassess his political journey, saying that if he were in his position, he would seriously question the decision to venture into politics.

Prof Frimpong-Boateng’s allegation that the NPP’s 2023 presidential primary was rigged to favour Dr Bawumia has sparked internal debate within the party and drawn responses from several senior figures, including Mr Nitiwul.
