New Force Suspends Security Aide Over Assault Incident at Funeral

The New Force Movement has announced the immediate suspension of Adu Acheampong, a member of the private security detail for its 2024 presidential candidate, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar.

This disciplinary measure follows an incident at the funeral of the late Mamponghene and Krontihene of Asanteman, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, on June 7, 2025, where Acheampong was seen in a viral video physically assaulting a man who attempted to approach Nana Bediako.

In an official statement signed by General Secretary Charles Yomekpe, the Movement strongly condemned the use of “unjustifiable force,” calling the incident “regrettable” and inconsistent with the values of the party.

The statement emphasized that the incident is being handled with “the utmost seriousness.” Acheampong has been suspended with immediate effect, pending a thorough internal investigation to assess his conduct and decide on further disciplinary action.

In the interim, he has been enrolled in an anger management program aimed at addressing his behavior and preventing future incidents.

Mr. Acheampong has since issued an unreserved apology to the individual involved.
