National Service Authority Boosts Agribusiness Entrepreneurship

- Two beneficiaries each receive GHS 20,000 to start poultry production
- Initiative links national service with agribusiness and job creation
- One beneficiary to focus on brooding day-old chicks, another on distribution
The National Service Authority (NSA) has provided financial support to two young women who undertook their national service as volunteers at Papao Farms, enabling them to establish their own poultry enterprises.
Each beneficiary received GHS 20,000 as start-up capital to immediately begin production within the poultry value chain.
The support is part of the Authority’s wider effort to promote youth entrepreneurship and encourage practical, skills-based national service placements.
Speaking on the initiative, Director-General of the National Service Authority, Ruth Dela Seddoh, praised the output and dedication of the two volunteers, noting that their commitment underscores the importance of linking national service with agribusiness development and job creation.
One of the beneficiaries confirmed receiving the funds and stated that production would commence immediately. She explained that her enterprise will focus on brooding and selling day-old chicks, while the second beneficiary will operate as an off-taker, facilitating distribution and market access within the poultry sector.
The initiative is expected to create sustainable livelihoods for the beneficiaries, while also contributing to increased local poultry production and enhanced food security.
Ms. Seddoh reaffirmed her commitment to supporting innovative national service pathways that empower young people to transition from service into self-employment.
