MTN Ghana has refuted claims that fraudsters can access Mobile Money (MoMo) accounts without users sharing their personal information. This follows viral reports of large sums being stolen, including a woman who claimed GHS 11,000 vanished while she slept. However, MTN’s investigation revealed she was tricked through a social engineering scam after a lengthy phone call with the fraudsters, during which she unknowingly shared sensitive links. MTN emphasized that unauthorized withdrawals are not possible without the user giving out key information.
