A pregnant woman and her newborn were saved thanks to the swift intervention of a midwife and her assistant from the Sekesua Health Center, after the woman unexpectedly went into labor on a farm near Osonson Sekesua in the Upper Manya Krobo District, Eastern Region.
On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the woman—accompanied by her mother-in-law and without access to transportation—set out on foot to the health center using a bush path. Along the way, she went into sudden labor and was forced to lie down on a nearby farm to give birth.
According to Citi News sources, the midwife, identified as Helen, received a distress call alerting her that a pregnant woman en route to the facility was in active labor on a farm.
Helen and her assistant quickly gathered essential delivery equipment and rushed to the scene. They successfully delivered the baby on the farm, ensuring both mother and child remained safe throughout the process.
Citi News confirms that both the mother and her baby are now in stable condition and receiving care at the Sekesua Health Center.
