Menscook Plans to Welcome Women as Part of Future Growth and Inclusion

Story Highlights
  • Menscook, currently an all-male culinary brand, plans to hire women for administrative and operations roles
  • The brand was built to challenge gender stereotypes in cooking, especially at weddings
  • Though chefs will remain male, the company aims for diversity and inclusion as it grows

Wisdom Obeng Nyarko (WON), Manager of Menscook, says the company is preparing to open its doors to female staff as part of its commitment to diversity and inclusion, even though it currently operates with an all-male team.

Speaking on The Career Trail on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, Nyarko shared that Menscook initially began with men and found success in the predominantly female culinary industry, which motivated them to retain the format.

“We started naturally with men, and over time, this gave us a unique edge in a space typically dominated by women—so we thought, why change what’s working?” he explained.

He added that Menscook aims to challenge gender norms, particularly the notion that cooking is solely a woman’s responsibility.

“We cater a lot of weddings and want to send a message to grooms: cooking isn’t just for women. If men are preparing meals at your wedding, then as a husband, you can cook at home too. There’s nothing wrong with men cooking,” he said.

However, as Menscook expands, Nyarko acknowledges the need to diversify the team, particularly in non-kitchen roles.

“As we grow, we’ll need women, especially in administrative and operations roles. Inclusion matters to us, and we plan to reflect that,” he stated.

He clarified that while the cooking team will remain male, women will be key to supporting the business behind the scenes.

“Eventually, we’ll have women in admin and operations. It won’t always be an all-male setup—but our chefs will continue to be men,” he concluded.
