President John Dramani Mahama has implemented disciplinary measures against political appointees who missed the mandatory asset declaration deadline of March 31, 2025.

The President revealed that the Auditor General’s office provided information indicating that some appointees in his administration failed to comply with the deadline. As a result, he has ordered the forfeiture of three months’ salary for the non-compliant officials, which will be donated to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.

“On February 18, 2025, I set a March 31 deadline for all appointees to declare their assets. The Auditor General’s report indicates that some of you did not meet that deadline,” Mahama stated.

“For those appointed or nominated before March 31, 2025, and who failed to declare their assets, you will forfeit three months’ salary, which will be contributed to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, under the ‘Mahama Cares’ initiative,” he continued.

In addition, the President has required all appointees to donate one month’s salary to the Mahama Cares Trust Fund. This means that those who missed the asset declaration deadline will have to contribute a total of four months’ salary.

President Mahama further emphasized that any appointees who fail to declare their assets by May 7, 2025, will face dismissal.
