A 29-year-old labourer has been sentenced to 10 months in prison by the Kwadaso Circuit Court in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region for stealing GH¢12,000 at Kumasi-Santasi.

The convict, Emmanuel Frimpong, also known as Ebo Noah, pleaded guilty to the charge and was convicted on his own plea.

Presenting the facts, Police Chief Inspector David Opoku Kwabi told the court, presided over by Mr Jephthah Appau, that the complainant, Blackjew Appiah, was a sales officer with a Unilever products distribution company at Santasi, where Frimpong worked as a labourer.

According to the prosecution, on January 7, 2026, the complainant went to a mobile money vendor, Leticia Gyamfi, to withdraw GH¢12,000 from his mobile money wallet. Although the transaction was successful, the vendor could not immediately raise the full amount and asked for some time to do so, to which the complainant agreed.

When the vendor later secured the full amount, she noticed the convict at the same location depositing money into his wallet. She contacted the complainant and proposed that Frimpong deliver the money to him at the office, an arrangement the complainant accepted.

However, instead of delivering the cash as agreed, Frimpong diverted from the plan and travelled to Cape Coast in the Central Region, where he reportedly spent four days at a hotel with commercial sex workers.

The prosecution further stated that the convict later moved to Wromanso in the Amansie East District of the Ashanti Region. A complaint was subsequently lodged with the Suntreso Police, leading to his arrest at Wromanso.

Following investigations, Frimpong was charged, arraigned before the court, and sentenced accordingly.
