Kpandai chiefs oppose proposed parliamentary election rerun

- Kpandai traditional leaders firmly reject calls for a parliamentary election rerun
- Chiefs say the election was transparent, peaceful, and reflects the true will of voters
- They appeal to President Mahama to intervene to protect peace and uphold the results
Traditional leaders in the Kpandai Constituency have strongly rejected calls for a rerun of the parliamentary elections and are appealing to President John Dramani Mahama to intervene to protect peace and stability in the area.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, December 12, the chiefs expressed concern about what they described as attempts by some groups to sow tension and undermine the will of the electorate. They insisted that the electoral process in Kpandai was transparent, peaceful, and accurately reflected the choice of voters.
“We, the chiefs of Kpandai State, jointly affirm that there should be no rerun in the Kpandai Constituency,” their statement read. “The people have voted, and their decision must be upheld. We therefore appeal to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama to intervene to ensure justice and peace.”
The traditional authorities also urged political actors and their supporters to remain calm and address any grievances through lawful and peaceful means, rather than actions that could destabilize the constituency.
They reaffirmed their willingness to work with government, security agencies, and community stakeholders to maintain peace—especially at a time when national tensions are heightened by electoral disputes.
The press conference was attended by elders, opinion leaders, and members of the media, who all echoed the call for restraint and respect for the election outcome.
Concluding their address, the chiefs emphasized their commitment to unity and development, stressing that Kpandai must not be drawn into unnecessary conflict over political disagreements.
