The Abodiase Traditional Council has enstooled District Court Judge Augustine Kofi Akosa-am as the new Twafohene of Abodiase, located in the Amansie West Municipality of the Ashanti Region. He will serve under the stool name Nana Kofi Nsowaah I.
In addition to his role as a judge, Nana Nsowaah is a trained journalist and a former serviceman. During his installation ceremony, he took an oath of allegiance to serve his people with dedication and integrity throughout his reign.
Traditionally, the Twafohene serves as a key advisor to the Abodiasehene, leads the Asafo military group, oversees the mobilization and training of the Asafo troops, and acts as a key liaison between the palace and these forces. He is also responsible for safeguarding Abodiase’s lands, preventing encroachment, and resolving land-related disputes.
His installation was marked by a grand procession through the streets of Abodiase, where he was carried shoulder-high amid drumming, dancing, and cheers from residents, Asafo leaders, security personnel, and well-wishers.
During the ceremony, Nana Asante Dwumah I, Chief of Abodiase, administered the oath and urged the new Twafohene to uphold neutrality in his duties, remain accessible to the community, and preserve the dignity of the office.
The event was attended by staff from the Judicial Service across districts where Nana Nsowaah has served, as well as retired military officers, judges, chiefs, and community members.
In a post-enstoolment interview, Nana Kofi Nsowaah shared his vision for the development of Abodiase. He emphasized his dedication to fair justice, land protection, and attracting investment—especially in agriculture—to harness the area’s vast land resources in collaboration with fellow chiefs.
