The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted seventeen police officers in recognition of their outstanding performance and dedication to duty.

The promotions, announced on January 27, 2026, underscore the officers’ key roles in several high-profile operations across the country.

Among the notable achievements cited was the seizure in Ho, in the Volta Region, of ten wrapped slabs of substances suspected to be cocaine, with an estimated street value of GH₵1,032,650, along with additional sacks of suspected narcotics.

In a separate operation at Jacobu, the officers also recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action shotgun, and eight live AAA rounds of ammunition during a routine patrol, averting potential threats to public safety.

Addressing the ceremony alongside members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), IGP Yohuno praised the officers for their discipline, courage, and professionalism, describing their actions as exemplary and reflective of the core values of the Ghana Police Service.

“Your promotion is not only a recognition of your past achievements but also a call to greater responsibility. Let it motivate all personnel to continue working diligently, as excellence and integrity remain the foundation for recognition within the Service,” he said.

The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to merit-based promotions, linking advancement to performance, operational success, and dedication to public safety.

The newly promoted officers are expected to leverage their new ranks to mentor junior colleagues and uphold high standards in future operations.

The recognition highlights the Service’s broader resolve to combat crime—particularly narcotics trafficking and illegal firearms—while fostering professionalism and accountability within its ranks.
