Linda Akweley Ocloo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Shai Osudoku, has vowed to ensure the permanent closure of St. Olives Grammar School (formerly Happy Home School) in Dodowa. This follows reports that the school relocated from its original location without informing the appropriate authorities.

The school has been under intense scrutiny after Channel One News aired a report detailing the case of an eight-year-old student who is at risk of having her leg amputated after her boarding housemistress allegedly submerged her legs in hot water.

During a visit to the school on Wednesday, January 14, Channel One News found the school premises to be closed.

At a meeting on Thursday, January 15, with the victim, Jalila Abdul Jalil, her family, and education officials, Madam Linda Ocloo emphasized that securing justice for the child is non-negotiable. She also referred to previous complaints about similar incidents at the school.

“Rest assured, justice will be served,” Ocloo said. “This issue is gaining attention, and we are committed to ensuring justice for her. As for the school’s closure, we will make sure it is permanently shut down.”

Ocloo expressed strong disapproval of the school’s management, saying, “I can’t even begin to describe the woman in charge, and it’s clear that even the neighbors have been complaining about the treatment of the children there. We advise parents to act swiftly. If your child is there, please take them out immediately, or find a relative who can care for them.”

She continued, “Parents who leave their children at this school should be aware that if something happens, no one will be held accountable but themselves.”

Ocloo further urged parents to ensure that their children leave the school, stressing, “By now, every child should be removed from that school. We need to make sure that school is empty.”
