The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has rejected a report by Asaaseradio alleging that the institution incurred losses of more than GH¢3 billion in its first year, calling the claim baseless and intentionally misleading.
In a statement issued on Monday, November 17, GoldBod described the publication as “entirely false and deliberately fabricated” to damage its reputation and undermine what it says are significant achievements in helping stabilise the economy.
The board stated that it has not suffered any losses, insisting instead that it has recorded “substantial surpluses” since commencing operations.
GoldBod added that its quarterly financial reports — which will be made available soon on its official website — will confirm its strong financial position.
“Quarterly financial statements of the GoldBod, which will soon be published on the official website of the statutory corporation, will bear this fact out,” the statement said.
The board urged the public to disregard the Asaaseradio publication, describing it as misleading and unethical, and called on the outlet to retract the story and issue an apology.
“The Ghana Gold Board urges the general public to treat this false publication by ‘Asaaseradio’ with utmost contempt and calls on the management of the station to retract and render an unqualified apology to the general public for such misleading and unethical publication,” the statement added.
