GIS Launches Investigation Into Hamile Border Disturbance

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has initiated a thorough investigation into a disturbance that took place at the Hamile Border Post in the Upper West Region on Saturday, September 13, 2025, involving some members of the local community.
In an official statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration and Head of Public Affairs, M. Amoako-Atta, the GIS confirmed that the situation has been stabilised with support from other security agencies.
“We wish to assure the general public, especially the Hamile community, that calm has been restored and the situation is now under control,” the statement read.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Samuel Basintale Amadu, has directed that appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
“Measures will be implemented in line with the outcome of the investigations,” the statement added.
The GIS also appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate fully with authorities throughout the investigative process.
“We urge the public to stay calm and assist officials as the matter is thoroughly examined,” it concluded, noting that further updates will be communicated in due course.
