Ghanaian TikTok star and music promoter Eugene Ananzo Junior, widely known as Ananzo Official, has revealed that he has yet to spend the $5,000 gifted to him by Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido.
In an interview with Asieduwaa Akumia on Joy Prime, Ananzo expressed deep gratitude to Davido for fulfilling his promise after a video of Ananzo singing Davido’s hit “With You” went viral. The clip, filmed while Ananzo was working at a car wash in Takoradi, gained massive attention on TikTok and was even reposted by Davido himself.
During the interview, Ananzo said, “I believe God became Davido to bless me and my team.” He confirmed that although the money was sent to him via Davido’s representatives, he has not yet touched the $5,000.
“I haven’t spent any of the $5,000 Davido gave me. It’s still intact,” he said. When asked about his plans for the money, he hinted, “You’ll hear about it in the media soon.”
The cash reward followed Ananzo’s heartfelt cover of “With You,” which features Omah Lay, gaining viral momentum in April 2025. Impressed by the energy and sincerity in the video, Davido commented on TikTok: “5K US for you. OLS contact @deekay_dmw,” and promptly arranged for the money to be sent.
This generous act earned Davido widespread praise on social media for supporting emerging talent. Ananzo’s TikTok following surged from roughly 91,000 to over 600,000 in just days. His video has amassed more than 16 million views and 2 million likes, turning him into a rising digital star.
Ananzo’s journey to fame has been unconventional. He spent over ten years working at a local car wash to finance his secondary education, often entertaining customers with impromptu singing. A viral 2024 video of him enjoying King Paluta’s “Makoma” set the stage for his breakthrough online.
He also credited Nigerian activist and influencer Very Dark Man (VDM) for helping to amplify his story. In a heartfelt thank-you video, Ananzo prostrated in appreciation—a gesture that deeply resonated with fans.
Despite his newfound fame and fortune, Ananzo remains grounded. He plans to keep working at the washing bay as part of his personal brand while pursuing his dream of becoming one of Africa’s top music promoters.
“I’m still that boy from the bay,” he said. “But now, the world is listening.”
