The Ghana Education Service (GES) has published the 2025 harmonised prospectus for all Senior High Schools and Technical Institutions across the country.
Dubbed the National Prospectus, the document sets out a standardised list of items required for all first-year students. Schools have been instructed to strictly follow the approved list and are prohibited from requesting additional items outside the official guidelines.
This initiative aims to lessen the financial burden on parents and allow for early preparation, even before the release of the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) results.
The prospectus is organised into three main categories:
- Category A lists 27 essential items, including a trunk or hard suitcase, chop box or plastic container, toiletries, bedding, school-specific footwear, underwear, cutlery, and key academic tools like a mathematical set and scientific calculator.
- Category B outlines cleaning supplies, divided into three sub-groups:
- Group One: hard hand gloves, 5 litres of liquid soap, 1kg washing powder.
- Group Two: small bleach, dustpan, long-handled broom, scrubbing brush.
- Group Three: standing mop with bucket, duster, and short local broom.
- Day Students: Required to provide items from Category A, such as a mathematical set, scientific calculator, plain school-specific sandals, black or white sneakers, and a school bag. Cleaning materials under Category B also apply based on assigned sub-groups.
The GES highlighted that the harmonised prospectus is designed to promote equity across schools, reduce disparities, and ease both financial and logistical pressures on families.
