The German Embassy in Accra has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed eight lives in the Adansi area of Ghana’s Ashanti Region on Wednesday.

In an official statement released shortly after the news emerged, the Embassy extended its heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Ghana, offering solidarity during this period of national mourning.

“This is a deeply painful and heartbreaking moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Government of Ghana and the families and friends of those who lost their lives,” the statement read.

The Embassy also paid tribute to two senior ministers it had closely worked with over the years, praising their dedication to public service and their warm, collaborative spirit.

“They were not only outstanding public servants but also cherished partners whose vision and kindness left a lasting mark. Their loss is deeply felt,” the statement added.

The crash, involving a military helicopter en route to Obuasi, has been declared a national tragedy by the Ghanaian government. In honour of the victims, national flags are being flown at half-mast across the country until further notice.
