A devastating fire tore through parts of the Ashaiman Light Industrial Area—popularly known as Fitter Line—in the early hours of Tuesday, September 30, destroying over 100 wooden structures and burning two metal containers.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) reported via Facebook that it received a distress call at 3:31 a.m., and firefighters arrived on the scene within seven minutes.
According to GNFS, the fire was contained by 4:13 a.m., brought under control by 4:36 a.m., and completely extinguished by 6:35 a.m.
A Mazda saloon car (registration GN 6085-22) was also damaged, along with the two containers and their contents. However, swift action by the fire team prevented the flames from spreading further—saving over 20 wooden structures, several containers, and eight vehicles.
Despite the area being busy with artisans and traders during the day, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and GNFS says investigations are underway. The public is urged to remain calm as assessments continue.
