ECG Installs Mobile Transformer to Boost Power Supply in Tseaddo and Surrounding Areas

Story Highlights
  • ECG begins installation of a mobile transformer in Tseaddo to address rising electricity demand
  • The 20/26 MVA mobile unit supports load from La Primary Substation
  • The initiative is part of ECG's broader strategy to improve power quality and operational efficiency

To address the increasing electricity demand in Tseaddo and surrounding regions, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Sub-Transmission Accra, has commenced the installation of a mobile transformer to enhance power supply and improve system reliability. The mobile unit, with a capacity of 20/26 MVA and operating at 33/11 kV, arrived in Tseaddo at 2:00 AM today for setup.

This temporary transformer will assist in supporting part of the load currently managed by the La Primary Substation. The project is fully funded by ECG and is expected to benefit communities such as Tseaddo, La, Teshie, and surrounding areas.

This effort is part of ECG’s ongoing initiative to enhance power quality, improve operational efficiency, and foster socio-economic growth in these areas. While the mobile transformer is a short-term solution, it will play a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted power until the permanent upgrade of the La Primary Substation is completed.
