DVLA CEO Denies Rumours of Changes to Number Plate Contracts

The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has denied rumours suggesting changes to the authority’s licensing and number plate contracts.

In a clear statement, the DVLA CEO confirmed that he has not signed any new contracts nor terminated any existing agreements related to the production or rollout of vehicle number plates.

“I want to address recent rumours about our licensing systems. As CEO of the DVLA, I have neither signed new contracts nor ended any existing ones regarding the new number plates. Any claims otherwise are inaccurate,” he said.

He stressed that the authority remains committed to transparency and due process, with a strong focus on the integrity of its procurement and operations.

The clarification follows widespread public speculation about reforms within the DVLA licensing system, particularly the introduction of new number plates.

Management reassured the public and stakeholders that any decisions affecting licensing or procurement will strictly follow established regulations and be communicated through official channels.
