Dr. Bawumia Mourns Apostle Safo

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has extended his condolences to former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, and her family following the passing of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

The renowned founder of the Kristo Asafo Church and the Kantanka Group of Companies passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 77.

Dr. Bawumia paid tribute to the late Apostle Safo and visited the family home to personally offer his sympathies. During the visit, he also signed the book of condolence in honour of the late visionary.

He was accompanied by several notable figures, including former Majority Leader and Suame MP, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu; Karaga MP and former Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam; Assin South MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour; the NPP’s 2024 Dome-Kwabenya parliamentary candidate, Mike Ocquaye Jnr.; and Adentan NPP parliamentary candidate, Akosua Manu, among others.

Born on August 26, 1948, in Bekwai, Ashanti Region, Apostle Safo was a spiritual leader and an innovative trailblazer. Through the Kantanka Group, he pioneered advancements in agriculture, electronics, and the local automotive industry with Kantanka Automobiles.

Apostle Safo was widely celebrated for his ability to merge faith with science and technology—championing African innovation and self-reliance, and inspiring generations with his message of empowerment and ingenuity.
