Kwahu traditional authorities are on high alert after a dawn raid on the palace left the whereabouts of the Kwahu Queen Mother, Nana Adwoa Gyamfua III, unknown.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, the linguist of Kwahumanhene, Obour Asabere, said tensions remain high, with no updates yet from police.
He disclosed that the raid—allegedly led by former Kwahu chief Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng II—involved armed men, including landguards and some police officers, and resulted in injuries to several palace guards.
Asabere said he has avoided visiting the palace, fearing he would be arrested if seen there.
“I couldn’t go to the palace because personally, if they get me, I will be arrested,” he said, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.
He added that although the former chief was destooled more than a year ago and had expressed grievances about his removal, no one expected such a violent attempt to reclaim the palace. Authorities are still probing what motivated him, especially since he left with no possessions.
Asabere also noted that the Paramount Chief, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, was in Accra at the time but has since rushed back to Kwahu following the incident.
