- Accused of stealing a GH¢150,000 Man Diesel truck head belonging to DBS Roofing
- Police say he planned the theft since 2024 and used towing vehicles to move the truck
A 38-year-old man has been granted bail of GH¢75,000 with two sureties by an Accra Circuit Court after being accused of stealing a Man Diesel truck head valued at GH¢150,000, belonging to DBS Roofing Sheet Company Limited.
The court directed that one of the sureties for the accused, Mershack Arthur, must be justified.
Arthur has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to reappear before the court, presided over by Madam Basilia Adjei-Tawiah, on December 3, 2025.
Presenting the facts, Police Chief Inspector Daniel Ofori-Appiah said the complainant, Mr. Emmanuel Sarkodie, is the Transport Officer of DBS Roofing Sheet Company Limited on the Spintex Road and resides in Kasoa. The accused is an employee of the same company and lives in Martey Ma, Teshie.
Chief Inspector Ofori-Appiah stated that on September 8, the complainant arrived at the company’s warehouse near the Tema Motorway and discovered that the Man Diesel truck head, with registration number GS 2587-20, had been stolen. A report was immediately filed at the Manet Police Station.
Following a tip-off from witness Anthony Sackey, Arthur was arrested and detained to assist with investigations.
Police findings revealed that the accused had planned to steal the vehicle since 2024. On Saturday, September 6, at about 5:50 a.m., he allegedly used a towing vehicle to move the truck to Martey Tsuru in search of a buyer. Three days later, he hired another tow truck to relocate it again, but was caught at Achimota.
He was subsequently transferred from the Tesano Police Station to the Manet Police Station. An investigation caution statement was taken from him, during which he admitted to the offence.
After thorough investigations, it was confirmed that Arthur committed the crime. He has since been charged and put before the court.
