A delegation from the Kumasi office of Channel 1 Television has paid a courtesy visit to Kofi Adu Domfeh, the newly elected Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), expressing hope for renewed progress under his leadership.
The delegation, led by Channel 1 TV’s Middle Belt Bureau Chief, Hafiz Tijani, congratulated Mr. Domfeh on his election and pledged their commitment to supporting his vision for the regional chapter.
Kofi Adu Domfeh, an experienced environmental journalist and News Editor at Multimedia Group, was elected on June 30, 2025. His campaign focused on enhancing professional integrity, promoting ethical journalism, and expanding inclusivity within the association.
One of the key issues raised during the visit was the need to broaden the GJA’s membership to include more qualified journalists across the Ashanti Region. In response, Mr. Domfeh emphasized that increasing and digitizing the membership process would be a top priority of his administration to ensure greater inclusiveness and engagement.
“It’s an honor to receive you,” he said. “Our association has many exceptional members who deserve visibility. Expanding our membership through a digitized, inclusive system will help strengthen our collective impact.”
The meeting, held at the premises of Luv FM/Nhyira FM, also explored avenues for collaboration between GJA and Channel 1 TV to promote responsible journalism in the region.
Mr. Tijani expressed strong confidence in Domfeh’s leadership and reaffirmed Channel 1 TV’s readiness to support efforts aimed at reviving the association.
“We amplify the voices of many other groups—it’s time we also speak up for ourselves. We trust in your ability to drive reforms, and you can count on our full support,” Tijani stated.
Beatrice Spio-Garbrah, the GJA Ashanti Region General Secretary-elect, also joined the meeting virtually and expressed appreciation for Channel 1 TV’s willingness to collaborate with the new leadership.
