Azumah & E&P in Confidential Negotiations

- Bright Simons does not represent Azumah; his comments are personal and unofficial
- Media and public cautioned against speculation that may harm the negotiation process
- Discussions are taking place under Ghana’s legal and regulatory frameworks
Azumah Resources Ghana Limited has confirmed it is engaged in confidential discussions with Engineers & Planners (E&P) aimed at resolving an ongoing commercial dispute. The company characterized the negotiations as positive, collaborative, and conducted in good faith.
In a statement released on Sunday, July 13, the Board of Directors emphasized that the talks are taking place within the bounds of Ghana’s legal and regulatory frameworks, with oversight and input from the relevant government ministries.
“Azumah Resources is currently participating in confidential, good-faith discussions with Engineers & Planners (E&P), with the shared goal of reaching a constructive and mutually satisfactory resolution,” the statement said.
This announcement follows a surge in public debate and media coverage, particularly in relation to recent comments by Ghanaian policy analyst Bright Simons.
The company clarified that Mr. Simons holds no formal role with Azumah Resources and his remarks should not be construed as representing the company’s views.
“Mr. Bright Simons does not represent, speak for, or act on behalf of the Shareholders or Directors of Azumah Resources Ghana in any capacity,” the Board noted, categorizing his comments as personal opinions.
Azumah further urged the media and public to avoid speculation or the spread of inaccurate information that could disrupt the negotiation process. The company encouraged all stakeholders to rely exclusively on official channels for accurate updates.
The statement also addressed recent mentions of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) in public discourse.
Azumah clarified that while exploratory discussions were held in Lomé in 2023 regarding potential financing, EBID’s interest was non-binding and dependent on internal assessments and formal Board approval.
“Any interpretations beyond this context are misleading and unauthorized,” the company stated.
Reiterating its dedication to transparency and professionalism, Azumah Resources affirmed its ongoing commitment to acting in the best interest of all stakeholders, including the Republic of Ghana.
