Armed Robbers Raid Sehwi Asafo Police Station, Steal AK-47 Rifle and Ammunition

Suspected armed robbers have raided the Sehwi Asafo Police Station in the Sehwi Wiawso Municipality, making off with an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and other important police equipment.

The break-in took place late last night, with the robbers allegedly scaling an iron-gated window to gain access to the station’s armoury. Reports indicate that the assailants managed to steal the high-powered rifle, along with several rounds of ammunition, before fleeing the scene in the Western North Region.

In addition to the firearm, the thieves also looted other police property. Initial investigations suggest that the perpetrators were highly organised and may have been familiar with the station’s security layout.

At the time of the attack, officers on duty were reportedly caught off guard. Thankfully, no casualties were recorded during the raid.

Following the attack on the police station, the suspects targeted the residence of a Catholic priest. Images from the scene suggest the robbers fired shots during the incident, though no casualties have been reported in this second assault.

In response to the attack, the police have launched an intensive investigation to locate the perpetrators. Additionally, extra security measures are being implemented at other police stations across the region to prevent further incidents.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the inspector in charge of the Sehwi Asafo Police Station has been interdicted pending further inquiries.
