Adu-Boahene Rearrested After Remand Period Ends

Former National Signals Bureau Director, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, remains in custody even after completing a court-ordered seven-day remand.

He was initially detained on May 2 over accusations of witness tampering related to charges including stealing, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.

However, during a court appearance on Tuesday, May 13, his lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, informed the court that Adu-Boahene had been rearrested on a separate issue following the expiration of the remand order. Details of the new arrest were not disclosed.

The Attorney General had previously stated that Adu-Boahene is also being investigated in a separate matter involving internet connectivity issues at Ghana Water Limited.

In the current case, which centers on the alleged diversion of GH¢49.1 million, the court has scheduled a case management conference for May 26. The state has submitted all witness statements and is expected to share them with the defense by May 20.
