Adansi youth skills training programme

- 100 young people in Adansi enrolled in a new skills training programme
- Initiative aims to boost employability and reduce poverty in the Ashanti Region
- Training equips beneficiaries with vocational and technical skills for jobs or entrepreneurship
A total of 100 young people from the Adansi enclave in the Ashanti Region have been enrolled in a new skills training programme designed to boost employability and reduce poverty in the area.
The initiative was launched during a matriculation ceremony for the beneficiaries, who will receive training across various vocational and technical fields to enhance their chances of securing jobs or starting their own businesses.
Speaking to Adom News, Edmund Oduro Adjei, Senior Manager in the Sustainability Department, explained that the programme forms part of broader efforts to tackle rising unemployment in Obuasi and neighbouring communities.
He noted that the lack of practical, employable skills has driven many young people into illegal mining (galamsey), exposing them to danger and limiting their long-term opportunities. The training aims to prepare the youth to take advantage of emerging local job openings. Of the 100 trainees, 48 are female and 52 male.
Barimansu Antwi Kwanin, Adansihene Benkumhene, expressed concern over the lifestyle choices of some young people in the area and urged those engaging in unproductive behaviours to reform and make use of opportunities such as this programme.
He encouraged the trainees to stay disciplined and committed, emphasising that the skills they acquire have the potential to transform their lives and contribute to the development of the Adansi community.
