The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has apprehended 13 individuals in a significant anti-drug operation conducted in Akuapem Akropong, Eastern Region.
The early morning raid targeted drinking spots and suspected drug hideouts as part of NACOC’s nationwide effort to curb the sale and use of illegal drugs within communities.
During the operation, officers confiscated various quantities of cannabis, hashish, ecstasy tablets, and a powerful cannabis variant known as “Collos.”
Additionally, synthetic opioids like Tramadol and cannabis-infused drinks, including bitters and locally brewed sobolo, were recovered.
NACOC confirmed that all seized substances have been sent for forensic analysis to aid ongoing investigations.
The 13 suspects are currently in custody and will be charged after screening procedures.
Officials emphasized that this operation marks the start of a continuous crackdown on drug-related offenses in the Akuapem area and beyond, urging the public to assist law enforcement by reporting any suspicious drug activities.
