“Secular Songs Can’t Drag You to Hell, They Motivate” – Joyce Blessing

Award-winning Gospel artist Joyce Blessing has urged critics within the Christian community to rethink their stance on the consumption of secular music.

In recent discussions led by pastors, there has been significant controversy regarding whether Christians should listen to secular or worldly music. Some preachers argue that indulging in such music contradicts Christian values and can negatively impact one’s spiritual well-being. According to these voices, Christians who engage with secular songs risk undermining their faith.

However, Joyce Blessing, a prominent figure in the Ghanaian Gospel music scene, disagrees with this viewpoint. During an interview, she expressed her belief that the criticisms from some pastors are misguided.

Blessing emphasized that secular music can offer motivation and upliftment, countering the notion that such songs are inherently detrimental. She cited specific tracks, such as Akwaboah’s “No Pressure” and Sarkodie’s “Countryside” featuring Blacko, as examples of secular music that positively influences listeners and does not encourage negative behavior.
