The Old Achimotan Association (OAA) has announced its intention to hold a vigil in memory of Joanna Deladem Yaban, a former Achimota School student who was tragically found dead on the campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on February 27, 2025.

Joanna, who was a final-year Biological Sciences student at KNUST, graduated from Achimota School in 2021 as part of the SOA House.

In a statement signed by Francis Agyare-Yeboah, President of the OAA KNUST Chapter, the association expressed profound sorrow over her untimely death and called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. “We urge the relevant authorities to establish the facts and ensure accountability. We stand in solidarity with her family, friends, the OAA 2021 Year Group, and the entire Old Achimotan fraternity in this time of grief,” the statement read.

To honor Joanna’s memory, the OAA will hold a vigil, with further details to be shared in the near future. The event will bring together former classmates, teachers, and well-wishers to celebrate her life and demand justice.

As investigations into her death continue, both Achimota School and its alumni remain united in mourning the loss of a bright, promising student whose life was tragically cut short.
