The partly burnt body of a 38-year-old immigration officer, Steffen King Amoah—also known as Nana Kofi—was discovered at Abuom Junction in Kwabenya, Greater Accra Region, five days after he was reported missing by his family.
Concerned family members filed a missing person’s report at the Taifa Police Station on July 4, 2025, at around 4:30 p.m., after repeated attempts to reach Amoah by phone failed. He had reportedly left his residence at Gye Nyame House, Musuku Junction, Kwabenya, to meet a friend for a discussion at Ashongman Estate.
His brother, Akwasi Amoako, confirmed the discovery to myjoyonline.com, stating that the body bore multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck. According to him, the killers likely tried to dispose of the body by setting it on fire, as it was found partially burnt and wrapped in what appeared to be a woolen carpet along the Abuom-Abokobi road.

The body has since been transported to the Police Hospital Mortuary, where it was identified by Amoako and other family members.
Originally from Old Tafo in Kumasi, Amoah joined the Ghana Immigration Service in 2013. He was a well-known figure in the Sports Department at the Service’s national headquarters.
Amoah married his longtime partner, a policewoman, on March 28, 2018, in Tafo Nhyiaeso, Kumasi. The couple has two children—a 4-year-old son and a 5-month-old baby.
Meanwhile, a 36-year-old man, believed to be a friend of the deceased, was arraigned before the Kwabenya Circuit Court on Monday, July 8, 2025, and has been remanded into police custody pending further investigation.
