Enoch Abram, a Master Guide of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Budumburam, Gomoa East District of the Central Region, has tragically died while attempting to rescue two children from drowning during a beach outing.
The incident occurred during a district-organized beach programme, where Mr. Abram was enjoying time with friends from a neighbouring district. According to eyewitnesses, the two children were swept away by strong ocean currents, prompting Mr. Abram to act immediately.
He reportedly jumped into the water and managed to bring both children safely to shore. However, he was later overcome by the powerful waves and submerged.
After approximately 30 to 40 minutes of frantic searching and fervent prayers from those present, Mr. Abram’s body was recovered. Witnesses said he had a faint pulse when pulled from the water. He was rushed to a nearby medical facility but was pronounced dead on arrival.
News of his passing has sent shockwaves through the Seventh-day Adventist community in Budumburam and beyond. Many have described him as selfless, courageous, and deeply devoted to service. His final act—saving the lives of two children at the cost of his own—has been widely recognized as the ultimate sacrifice.
