The Council of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has renewed the appointment of Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Budu as Dean of the Faculty of Law for a second and final three-year term.
Dr. Agyeman-Budu, who initially assumed the role in September 2022, will now continue his tenure until August 31, 2028. His reappointment follows a positive recommendation from GIMPA’s Renewal Committee and final approval by the Appointment and Promotion Committee.
A formal statement issued by Dr. Victoria M. Kunbuor, Secretary to the Institute, confirmed that the new term will commence on September 1, 2025.
At just 37 years old, Dr. Agyeman-Budu holds the distinction of being the youngest academic to serve as Dean at GIMPA. He is the fifth individual—and the fourth substantive academic—to lead the Faculty of Law.
Before becoming Dean, he served as a senior lecturer and led several key legal research centers within the institution. His academic focus includes constitutional law, international human rights, humanitarian law, and intellectual property law.
His research interests also extend to criminal law, international criminal justice, business and human rights, and legal ethics.
Outside the classroom, Dr. Agyeman-Budu serves as Director of both the African Centre of International Criminal Justice and the African Centre on Law and Ethics at GIMPA. He also coordinates the Judicial Service of Ghana’s internship and clerkship programme, helping law students gain practical experience in courts nationwide.
