Court Reduces Nana Agradaa’s 15-Year Sentence to 12 Months

- Amasaman High Court reduced Nana Agradaa’s prison sentence from 15 years to 12 months
- Court ruled the original punishment was harsh and excessive
- Conviction for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence was upheld
The Amasaman High Court has reduced the 15-year prison sentence imposed on controversial evangelist Nana Agradaa to 12 calendar months, ruling that the original punishment was harsh and excessive.
In its judgment, the court upheld her conviction but exercised its discretion to vary the sentence, reducing it from the 15 years of hard labour earlier imposed by the trial court.
The revised sentence takes effect from July 3, 2025—the date of her conviction—meaning Nana Agradaa will serve a total of 12 months in prison.
The court held that while the offences warranted punishment, the severity of the initial sentence was disproportionate to the circumstances, justifying a downward revision.
Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess turned evangelist, was convicted of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence. She was found guilty of enticing victims during a televised broadcast in 2022, where she falsely claimed to possess spiritual powers capable of doubling money.
