Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, has urged Ghanaians to reject John Mahama in the 2024 general elections.

Bawumia argues that a presidency under Mahama would be limited to just four years, as he would not seek re-election, leading to a lack of long-term accountability.

During his visit to the Eastern Region, Bawumia engaged with locals, traditional leaders, and religious figures, stressing the need for a leader who would serve a full term and remain accountable throughout.

“If we elect former president Mahama, his term would only be four years—no more. After that, he wouldn’t return to areas like Lower Manya Krobo. He would take office, have his brief stint, and then retire without further commitment,” Bawumia remarked.

Throughout his tour, which included stops in Akropong, Asuogyaman, Lower Manya Krobo, and Yilo Krobo, Bawumia’s campaign has featured extensive grassroots engagement and meetings with local leaders.

In a notable pledge, he promised to personally fund a bus for Krobo Girls Senior High School, a commitment that was well-received by the students.
