Abronye Arrested

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, on charges of offensive conduct likely to disturb public peace.

In a statement issued on Monday, September 8, the Police stated that the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was taken into custody earlier that day and remains in detention.

While the specific circumstances leading to the arrest were not disclosed, it follows a period of increased public attention on the outspoken political figure.

The Police noted that Abronye is expected to appear in court in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Abronye has officially submitted requests for political asylum to several foreign embassies, including those of Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Canada.
