GoldBod Enforces Receipt Rule Nationwide

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has officially begun nationwide enforcement of the mandatory use of GoldBod-issued receipts by all licensed gold buyers, following earlier grace periods and delays.

In a statement on Monday, August 18, 2025, GoldBod announced that all licensed aggregators — including self-financed, Tier 1, and Tier 2 buyers — must issue official receipts for gold transactions. This move is intended to promote transparency and tighten regulation in the gold sector.

To enforce this policy, a national task force and inspection teams have been deployed. Licensed buyers are expected to present receipt booklets for review and cooperate with inspectors. Failure to issue receipts will be treated as a serious violation and could result in penalties, including licence suspension or revocation.

GoldBod also advised small-scale miners and gold traders to demand receipts for every transaction and encouraged licensed buyers to reach out to its License and Regulatory Unit for support in acquiring receipt booklets.
