U.S. Embassy in Accra Opens Thousands of New Visa Appointment Slots

The U.S. Embassy in Accra has announced the release of thousands of additional non-immigrant visa appointment slots, many of which are available immediately, as it steps up visa processing in response to rising travel demand.

In a public notice, the Embassy said the expanded appointment schedule is intended to better accommodate applicants, particularly as interest grows ahead of major international events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

“Embassy Accra continues to process non-immigrant visa applications,” the mission stated, urging prospective travellers who do not currently hold valid U.S. visas to begin their applications early.

The Embassy specifically advised Ghanaians intending to travel to the United States for the 2026 World Cup to avoid last-minute applications, noting that early planning improves the chances of securing interview appointments and completing the visa process in time.

Applicants were also reminded to submit their applications exclusively through the official U.S. visa appointment platform, as part of ongoing efforts to prevent fraud and discourage the use of unauthorised intermediaries.
