- Legal case moved from Old Bailey to Southwark Crown Court
Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey’s scheduled court appearance in London on multiple sexual offense charges has been postponed to September 15, 2025.
The 32-year-old was initially due to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, September 2, but the case has now been transferred to Southwark Crown Court and rescheduled.
Partey is facing five counts of rape involving two women, along with an additional charge of sexual assault related to a third woman. The alleged incidents are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022 during his tenure with Arsenal. Charges were brought just four days after his contract with the English club expired at the end of June.
Despite ongoing legal proceedings, Partey has joined the Ghana national team’s training camp in Accra in preparation for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali. He reported to camp on Tuesday, September 2, and is expected to be available for both fixtures.
Ghana will travel to N’Djamena to face Chad on Thursday, September 4, before returning home to play Mali in Accra on Monday, September 8. Now playing for Spanish club Villarreal following his departure from Arsenal, the former Atlético Madrid star is anticipated to play a pivotal role in Ghana’s qualification campaign.
The Black Stars currently lead Group I with 15 points from six games.
