The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old woman, Sophia Amankwa, at Dogo Junction near Ada in the Greater Accra Region for possessing suspected narcotic substances.
According to a police statement, the arrest took place on June 25, 2025, after authorities intercepted a tipper truck with registration number GW 9768-12. The driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.

Upon searching the truck, officers discovered 3,900 compressed, cello-taped slabs packed in 52 sacks—suspected to be Indian hemp.
Preliminary investigations have identified Sophia Amankwa as the owner of the consignment. She is currently in custody and assisting police with further investigations. A manhunt has been launched to locate the driver and any other individuals connected to the case.
The Tema Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to stepping up enforcement against drug trafficking and related crimes throughout the region.
