A teenage girl has been found dead in a stream at Tomefa in the Ga South Municipality after reportedly taking exeat from school under the pretense of visiting her grandmother in Agbozome.
The victim has been identified as Gloria Segoe, a student of Keta Business Senior High School.
Initial findings reveal that instead of visiting her grandmother, Gloria traveled to Kasoa to see her boyfriend.
According to DOII Desmond Ackah, Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the cause of her death remains undetermined. Speaking on Adom FM’s midday news Kasiebo is Tasty, he explained that the GNFS responded to a distress call at around 10:02 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, and discovered her body in a stream.
Her body was retrieved by 10:42 p.m. and handed over to police authorities for investigation.
“We reached out to her mother this morning, and she has since visited the Police Hospital to confirm her daughter’s identity,” DOII Ackah stated.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s boyfriend has been arrested. Though he denies involvement, he is assisting the police with their investigation.
“He claims he was at work when he received news of the incident. Investigations are ongoing to determine the actual cause of death,” Ackah added.
