President John Dramani Mahama celebrated his 67th birthday with a morning devotion and prayer service at his residence in Accra.
The service was led by Rev. Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, who, along with a team of clergy, prayed with the former President. Rev. Wengam administered Holy Communion to President Mahama and his family and anointed him for the next chapter of his life.
In a brief sermon, Rev. Wengam encouraged President Mahama to remain steadfast in his faith, deepen his relationship with the Holy Spirit, and rely wholly on God for guidance, protection, and divine success. He also urged him to be an instrument for transforming Ghana into a prosperous, peaceful, and Christ-centered nation.
Other clergy in attendance included Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Rev. Michael Ayesu, Rev. Ben Tettey, Rev. (Rtd.) Ernest Agyei, Rev. Andrew N. Awintia, Rev. Aaron Fant, and Pastor Boateng Sarpong.
Responding, President Mahama reflected on his humble beginnings, noting that he never imagined he would one day become the President of Ghana. He credited his rise and accomplishments to God’s grace and recounted his journey to becoming a born-again Christian at Ringway Gospel Centre Assemblies of God under Rev. (Rtd.) Ernest Agyei.
He reaffirmed his commitment to, with God’s guidance and favour, leave a lasting legacy that extends beyond his time in office.
