The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has confirmed damage to a section of the 161 kV Aboadze–Tarkwa transmission line, operated by the Ghana Grid Company Ltd. (GRIDCo), potentially causing temporary power disruptions in parts of the Western and Ashanti Regions.

In a statement issued in Accra, the Ministry announced that a maintenance team has been urgently dispatched to the site to begin repair works.

“The maintenance team has been swiftly deployed and is currently at the location, working diligently to repair the line as quickly as possible,” the statement said.

Ongoing technical assessments are aimed at determining the full extent of the damage and restoring transmission capacity as quickly as possible.

Preliminary findings suggest that areas such as Kumasi and Tarkwa may face temporary power outages during the repair process.

“The analysis also highlights the possibility of power supply disruption in parts of the Western and Ashanti Regions within this short period, precisely Kumasi and Tarkwa,” the Ministry added.

The Ministry expressed regret for the inconvenience and assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to restore normal electricity supply.

“We wish to assure the general public that every effort is being made to repair the damage and normalise the situation,” it said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to a stable and reliable power supply nationwide.
